MSW In Person Orientation (Advanced Standing) 2025
Description
Please join us for our Mandatory In-Person Orientation. We invite you into our SSW community and into discussions of our mission and values as well as interactive experiences to get to know others and explore how we relate to one another. This session is focused on building relationships, not on logistics, so it is very different from the virtual orientation.
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
We are able to accommodate the following dietary restrictions:
- Dairy free
- Gluten free
- Vegetarian
- Vegan
If you have questions, please email mswadvising@uw.edu.
Questions & Answers
If you are unable to attend your assigned orientation date, we may be able to accommodate you in another orientation date. Please refer to the registration form. This session is very experiential and cannot be fully experienced via a recording, so we do want all students to attend in-person, if at all possible.
Please arrive ready to engage in conversation with your classmates and presenters. You do not need to bring anything with you except maybe a water bottle. There will be a few pre-readings and videos you will need to review to prepare for orientation. Those will be posted at a later date.
If at all possible, please come for the full day, since the program builds throughout the day. If you’re going to be more than 30 minutes late or need to leave more than an hour early, please email mswadvising@uw.edu and we’ll see if another orientation would work better for you.
We suggest students take public transportation, if possible. Street parking is limited and typically timed. Orientation will be taking place at the Health Sciences Education Building (HSEB) on UW Seattle campus (1607 NE Pacific St. Seattle, WA 98195). King County Metro and Community Transit
Those who need accommodations should email mswadvising@uw.edu at least 10 days before the event.
